About this service
When you or someone you love can't get to a GP surgery, or you need a medical assessment without travelling, our GP can come to you. A home visit means a proper, unhurried consultation in familiar surroundings: the doctor listens to what's worrying you, takes a full history, examines you, explains what's happening in plain language, and agrees a clear plan before leaving. If you need medication, further tests at home, a referral or follow-up care, we arrange it there and then.
Is this right for me?
You're too unwell or frail to travel to a surgery
You're recovering at home after a hospital stay
You're caring for an elderly relative who needs a doctor
You need a doctor to assess a new problem or examine an existing one
You'd rather be seen at home than sit in a waiting room
Important — this is not an emergency service
A GP home visit is not an emergency service. If the patient has severe difficulty breathing, severe chest pain, is unconscious, has signs of a stroke (face drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech), has severe bleeding or is seriously unwell, call 999 immediately.
What can our GP help with?
Chest infections and coughs
Urinary symptoms and suspected infections
Fever and infections
Vomiting or diarrhoea
Medication problems and side-effects
Worsening long-term conditions
New confusion in an older person
Mobility problems, falls or minor injuries
Pain that needs medical assessment
Post-hospital concerns
General illness where travelling to a GP is difficult
Review of an existing medical problem

Frequently asked questions
How much does a GP home visit cost?
A GP home visit costs £255, which includes the doctor's full consultation at your home. If any additional services, tests or treatments are needed, we will explain the costs before proceeding. Medication and pharmacy charges are separate.
How quickly can the GP come?
Same-day visits may be available, subject to clinician availability and your location. We also offer next-day and pre-booked appointments. Call us and we'll tell you honestly what's possible today.
What areas do you cover?
Lurgan, Craigavon and surrounding areas, subject to travel time and clinician availability. Call us with your postcode and we'll confirm.
Can I book for someone else?
Yes. A family member, carer or authorised representative can contact us to arrange a visit, provided the patient consents to be seen.
How long does the visit take?
Most home consultations are unhurried and typically last 30–60 minutes, depending on what the GP finds.
Can the GP prescribe medication?
Yes. If the GP believes medication is appropriate, a private prescription can be issued following your consultation, and we can send it to your chosen pharmacy where possible. Antibiotics are prescribed only where clinically appropriate.
Can I have blood tests or an ECG at home?
Yes — where clinically indicated, the GP can arrange a home blood test or home ECG as part of your care, often as a follow-on visit. Any additional cost is explained first.
Can you contact my NHS GP?
With your consent, we send a summary of the consultation to your registered NHS GP so your records stay joined-up. We never share information without your agreement.
What happens if the GP thinks I need hospital?
If the GP finds you are more unwell than expected, they will arrange the right escalation immediately — including speaking to hospital teams or arranging emergency admission where needed.
Can I book a follow-up visit?
Yes. The GP will recommend follow-up where appropriate, and you can book a further home visit or an online GP consultation — whichever suits your situation.
Do you visit care homes?
Yes. We regularly visit care homes; we simply ask that a nurse or manager on duty is available during the visit.
What if I'm outside your coverage area?
Take our reception team's details anyway — depending on travel time and clinician availability, our Operations Manager may still be able to approve a visit, and we'll come back to you the same day.
