Recovery & Post-Surgery Care

Structured recovery at home after surgery or illness — wound checks, medication support, personal care and rehabilitation working together.

About this service

Recovery is a team sport. After surgery or serious illness, we combine everything recovery needs — wound checks, medication support, personal care and rehabilitation — into one plan with one team, stepping the support down as your strength comes back.

Is this right for me?

  • You're recovering at home after an operation
  • You need wound care and medication support post-surgery
  • You want physiotherapy to rebuild strength and mobility
  • A relative needs help regaining independence after surgery

Important — this is not an emergency service

This is not an emergency service. If the patient has severe difficulty breathing, severe chest pain, is unconscious, has signs of a stroke (face drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech), severe bleeding or is seriously unwell, call 999 immediately.

What can we help with?

  • Wound care and dressings
  • Medication and pain management support
  • Personal care during recovery
  • Physiotherapy and mobility rebuilding
  • GP oversight of your recovery
Your plan is tailored to your operation and progress — timings vary from person to person.

After your visit

As you recover, support steps down and independence steps up. A GP oversees the plan, and — with consent — your NHS GP and surgical team are kept informed.
