About this service
Getting a baby or toddler ready to travel is not always easy, particularly with a newborn, more than one young child, or a little one who is unsettled. A GP can come to you instead. The visit is an unhurried consultation in your own home: time to explain what you have noticed, an appropriate examination of your child, and plain-language advice about what is likely to be happening and what to do next. It is the same service as our baby and young child clinic in Lurgan, brought to your door.
Is this right for me?
You have a newborn, or more than one young child at home
Your child is unsettled and difficult to travel with
You would rather the GP saw your child in their usual surroundings
Important — this is not an emergency service
This is not an emergency service. If your child is seriously unwell, has severe breathing difficulty, is unresponsive, has a rash that does not fade under a glass, or you are frightened by how they look, call 999 or go to the nearest emergency department.
What can we help with?
Constipation, hard stools and changes in bowel habit
Reflux, bringing up milk and unsettled feeding
Weight, growth and appetite concerns
Development, movement, speech and behaviour questions
General worries about a baby or young child who is not themselves

Frequently asked questions
What age is this for?
Babies and children under four years old. Older children can be seen at our Lurgan clinic.
Should I bring out the Red Book?
Yes, have your child’s Personal Child Health Record to hand if you have it. It helps with weight, growth and vaccination questions.
Can I book if I am not sure what is wrong?
Yes. You do not need a diagnosis before booking. If something about your child worries you, the GP will work through it with you.
